Entertaining, though a bit confusing for those of us who aren’t steampunk readers. The Aeronautical fleet were boats or did they fly? Did action take place on earth or the moon? I get that it’s the age old enemies France and England though otherwise a bit lost at sea.
Still having so much fun with this! The moon geography at the beginning was great and it's cool how you worked a touch of Victorian-era mercantilism in with the moon crystals and the penal colony. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
I can see the appeal a story like this would have had on someone pre-1968. The moon would have been the final frontier and the idea that pirates wandered the Mares would stir the imagination.
Thank you so much! I’ll try to keep it “Victorian Fascinating” from start to end, and hopefully it inspires other authors to explore similar types of writing too.
I also, already, have an adventure planned for the jungles of Venus - based on a similar premise to this one. One can only imagine what the Victorians would have found on the planet of Love…
This is really good, more of the same retro sci-fi as the first part, but I really liked the personality of the narrator that showed through in this one. Definitely looking forward to the next part!
For now, the narrator will be just that: a voice that tells of what he observed. I’m hoping to flesh him out later when the narrative angle shifts away from the current “diary entry” format to something more present.
Glad you’re enjoying it! I have seven parts in total planned out to complete this story arc, after which the next (short) story will focus on something that the narrator discovers in the North while chasing down those dastardly French. Hoping to do these for a while!
This definitely needs an animated version or, an audio play!
Coming soon to a Wireless Salon near you!

I suppose I should place a link to Pt1 of the story at the start of the article - it would answer all of those, indeed!
That would be helpful and cut down o reader cluelessness. 😁

Oh, that sounds sick! I would love to read that 🤩
